Cache Employment
The Northern Rockies Cache organization has a variety of jobs which require a
wide range of technical, managerial and personal skills. Occupational groups
engaged in the business include Supply Management (officer, specialist, technician
and clerk), Materials Handling and Small Engine/Pump Mechanics.  People
performing these jobs may have permanent career, career seasonal, term-limited
seasonal or temporary positions. Career and term-limited positions are
competitively hired and are advertised on
USAJobs .
As the fire season fluctuates, additional people are brought on board for temporary
jobs. Some are fielded through a local employment service on contract.
As employees of the employment service, they are limited to 120 days while engaged in
Cache work, regardless of hours worked. If you are interested in temporary
employment, contact Express Personnel Services who has the
current local service agreement with the Forest Service. Be sure to indicate
your interest in working at the Fire Cache.
Another group of temporary workers are called AD-hires. These are hired when
the need arises for specific tasks, such as delivering supplies. Each assignment
is a separate hire, but the assignments are unlimited depending on activity.
Because these are on-the-spot hires, we draw off a rotating list of people who
register with us in advance of the fire season. If you have a good-to-excellent
driving record and like call-when-needed employment, contact the
transportation dispatcher for details.
