1. NRCG Committee reports

Business

• change chair, meet again in Feb.
• sending letter of appreciation.
• Pvt. Resource's participation (send out letters)
• COR training
• Fire Proc. Training in MSO
• Buying team (2 vacancies)
• Fire Business Handbook -NEW Books by Fire season
• Unit leader training S360
• all Finance course will have been rewritten

Training

• 28 courses
• Montana contracted out their training ($200)
• NIZ training is free
• needs analysis first part of March
• recognize Gary Boyd for work on training

Prevention

• good participation
• next meeting end of month, 2 days
• joined with Great Basin with Prevention Workshop (April 17th)
• year 2000 Nevada, year 2001 in Missoula
• getting displays made on Defensible Space located in Yellowstone
• last year, Fire Prevention Team used
• will discuss use and guidelines for Teams at next meeting.
• 11 items that needs to be discussed that has not been addressed.
• next meeting: Prevention, Fire statistics at Geographical level,
• Restrictions, Urban Interface Programs
• Bring "Wildfire" movie to Spokane (IMAX)
• Representative: needed for this year -- -Sandy Groth recommended, all in favor.

Ops

• should have briefing for 520 candidates
• new chair, agenda out for next meeting
• bring new issues up before meeting.

Fire Use

• Randy Doman
• changes needed, in process if making changes
• wording changes
• criteria, ok
• Fire Use Team, 1 team, on call all season
• Need Team members, only had 1 nomination in NIZ
• Fire Use Education material being developed?
• Need local MAC Group?

General guideline at Planning Level 4 will have conference call.

Voice: Data Communications

• -issues and concerns surrounding new frequencies
• -narrow band

2. NRCG Update

• -Technical Specialists, (specifically Sawyers) training? (310-1)
• -could use without specific training for initial attack
• -Create and fill a Fireline Safety Officer (Interagency Position)
• -Next, NRCG Meeting April 19-20 in Coeur d'Alene

3. Offset Acres

• -State wide, value acre, 4 values classes
• -under consideration, some acres in the Clarkia area
• -how often is this being done? What set it off was the Federal Fire Policy
• -will re-visit every five years

4. NW Compact

• -Legislation
• -use existing coordination and dispatch offices
• -signed in Public Law
• -Federal Resources thru CIFCC, State resources any way

5. Mobilization Board

• -Engines, should come up with date for drawing
• -June 1st, Thursday
• -any orders before that date, will call off last years rotation
• -Out of area, all considered equally, based on rotation
• -Recommended requirements, take back to Business Management to change to require. (Radio, chainsaw, etc.)

6. Agency Updates

BLM

• -prescribed fire program growing
• Idaho fire looking at organization

Idaho Panhandle

• -personnel changes, 4 other vacant positions
• Myhre retired, FMO in St. Maries will still fill.
• Steermen relocated to Montana
• Budget -no plans for temporary firefighters

IHC Meeting

• No accidents for all crews
• Increase in cost
• other issues...hour limitations
• Locally -bring crew on in May thruough September
• anticipate crew changes in personnel

AIRCRAFT

• Tanker returning
• contract for airpatrol

Clear/Nez

• Budget, no initial attack (temporaries)
• no or close to zero lookouts
• will still have Air Tanker
• SEATS available
• SMKJ down to 20, previously around 30
• possibly utilize McCall's Twin Otter
• Resource Benefit fires several, more this year
• Outfitters, problems with resource benefit fires
• Smoke issues, with burn program
