For any visits to the National Grasslands, It is recommended that you
take water or liquid to drink, food for a snack, also a camera and binoculars,
if available. To maximize the opportunity of viewing wildlife, it is
suggested that the trip be made in early morning or late afternoon.
These are the periods when wildlife is most active.
-
While touring the National Grasslands, be sure to remain alert for
other vehicle traffic, livestock, wildlife, and railroad crossings.
This is especially important on curves, hilltops, and when stopping
along the route. Watch for cattle guards, and reduce speed when crossing.
-
No off-road driving is allowed.
-
Avoid smoking or other open fires during periods of high fire danger.
-
Be alert for rattlesnakes when walking through the area. Rattlesnakes
are not uncommon and their bites can inflict serious injury.
-
Poison ivy can be found in shaded, woody areas. Wear long pants and
adequate footwear.
-
Be prepared for inclement weather. Many of the roads become difficult
to travel during periods of heavy rain or snow. Basic passenger vehicles
and large recreational vehicles may have difficulty during these periods.
-

the appropriate measures necessary for a comfortable trip.
-

Forest Service office.

precautions will help to ensure that you do not trespass onto private
land.
