Southern Montana Resource Advisory Committee
The Southern Montana Resource Advisory Committee (RAC) is seeking
applications for projects that would enhance forest ecosystems
or restore and improve land health and water quality on the Custer
andGallatin National Forests and other nearby lands in Stillwater,
Sweet Grass, Park, and Powder River counties.

RAC Coordinator by JULY 1, 2011.

The RAC will begin review project proposals for possible funding
during their meeting on July 26 in Big Timber. Proponents may
be asked to attend the follow-up meeting scheduled on August 9
in Billings to discuss their projects before the RAC makes its
final decision. The RAC is required to complete their recommendations
to the Designated Federal Official by September 30, 2011.

The purposes of the Secure Rural Schools Act include making investments
and creating employment opportunities by prioritizing and implementing
projects that improve the maintenance of existing infrastructure,
implementing forest stewardship objectives, and restoring and
improving land health and water quality.
Members of the RAC will review projects proposed under SRS Title
II by participating counties, and coordinate with the Forest Service
in recommending Title II projects. RAC members also provide opportunities
for other interested parties to participate in developing Title
II projects, monitor project implementation, and make recommendations
for project adjustments or changes as needed.
