DN/FONSI
This project is located in the Crooked Creek drainage of the Pryor
Mountains. The purpose of this project is to provide continued
and safe access on Crooked Creek Road to the Pryor Mountains for
public and Forest Service administrative use. This project is
also intended to improve water quality and fisheries habitat by
reducing potential for mass road failure and sediment transport
into Crooked Creek.
This decision authorizes reconstruction and improvement of approximately
7 miles of Crooked Creek Road #2085. Reconstruction activities
include: Constructing turnouts; installing new culverts and cleaning
and extending existing culverts; reconditioning 1.74 miles of
road within the existing road prism; reconstructing 5.22 miles
of road to a 12’ surface width, with ditch, including proper
cut/fill slopes; blocking motorized access at the entrances to
several non-designated roads; surfacing approximately 7 miles
of Crooked Creek Road; numerous design features and mitigations,
including a project revegetation plan and application of Best
Management Practices. Specific actions, design features, and mitigations
are described in full in the DN/FONSI. The Environmental Assessment
