Weed Risk
Land managers are often concerned about the impact that wildland
fires might have on the potential spread and ecosystem effects of
exotic plant species. The risks of exotic plants is a function of
the susceptibility of a site to a particular species (i.e., can
it grow on the site?), the potential threat of an exotic species
to the function of a native plant community, and the exposure of
a site to seeds of an exotic species. These factors were integrated
to derive potential risk for 40 exotic species that were thought
to be potential problems in the Northern Rockies.
