The implementation of the
National Fire Plan/Cohesive Strategy requires an integrated
assessment of status, risks, and opportunities to ensure
that our management efforts reduce wildland fire costs,
improve ecosystem resiliency, conserve species and priority
watersheds, and more fully reduce threats to public and
firefighter safety.
The Northern
Region of the U.S. Forest Service brought together our team
with the primary purposes being to derive regional data
layers necessary to implement the National Fire Plan/Cohesive
Strategy and to develop a prototype
for conducting multiscale integrated status, risk and opportunity
assessments.
