VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

The time and talent offered by volunteers is an invaluable asset to the Clearwater National Forest. In exchange for caring for the country’s natural resources, volunteers gain a sense of ownership for the land that is held in public trust and often learn a new skill or two along the way!

The following links provide details on different types of volunteer opportunities available on the Clearwater NF. If you are interested in participating in any of these projects, your help would be greatly appreciated! The Clearwater invites you to join a growing number of individuals interested in the benefits of volunteerism. For a “how to” just start with the steps outlined below.

How the Volunteer Process Works:

Step 1. If you are interested in participating in any of the activities identified above, please complete a volunteer application and send it to the Ranger District(s) you are interested in volunteering with.

NOTE: Volunteer applications may be submitted any time during the year, however, if you are interested in volunteering for a summer field position, your application should be submitted by May 1. Trail projects and large group projects often require 6 months advance notice for proper coordination.

Step 2. Once your application is submitted, the volunteer coordinator on the District will contact you to discuss project opportunities and details.

Step 3. You will be provided with a volunteer agreement that outlines the project goals, agreement period, and responsibilities of the position. This paperwork, in addition to a Job Hazard Analysis, must be signed prior to your service.

For general application questions, contact the volunteer coordinator for the Clearwater National Forest:
