Outfitters and Guides

Fees paid by outfitters and guides who have Special Use Permits on the Clearwater are part of the program. Follow this link for a list of Forest Outfitters.

FEE SCHEDULE

Each permitted outfitter pays the Forest 3% of annual gross revenue in addition to camp fees.

FEES PRIOR TO THE RECREATION ENHANCEMENT PROGRAM

No changes were made when the Forest outfitter and guide program began participating in the Fee Demonstration project

CHANGES PLANNED FOR NEXT YEAR

  • Continue to provide and increase value added services in outfitter operating areas, these include additional camp inspections and associated resource protection measures and additional trail reconstruction and maintenance on trails primarily used by terrestrial outfitters
  • Fees will be collected into 3 accounts for river, terrestrial and bicentennial outfitters.
  • Additional input from outfitters will be sought regarding need for additional interpretive and other services

SPECIFIC ACCOMPLISHMENTS

  • A river ranger was provided on the Lochsa River for the white water season
  • 375 miles of trail repair; this is 174 miles more than last years accomplishment; 10 miles of this was intensive, Level 3, brushing and maintenance
  • Approximately $6000 contributed to a partnership to stabilize Gold Meadows Cabin. If you want more information on this project see the attached news article and photo.
  • Continued assistance with the water and sewer systems and facility improvements associated with the Wilderness Gateway outfitter camp
