PRESCRIBED FIRES FOR 2008
Map of Prescribed Burn Projects and 2006 UnitsSeveral landscape scale prescribed fires are planned for ignition anywhere from mid-August through September of 2008. Click on the map for a larger version and see below for more detailed maps. The units planned for 2008 are part of larger prescribed burn projects named on the map. Units planned for 2008 are circled. Other units shown on the map are either completed or planned for future years.

These fires will be ignited only when the burn units are within prescription and because moisture and weather conditions can change rapidly they may be ignited on short notice. Some roads and trails will be closed for public safety when the burns are igntited and active. Maps below show the trails and roads that will be affected. Note that these trails and roads are not closed at this time but are expected to be closed during the burns. See the Travel Information page for the latest status.

Most of the Guard Station unit of the Weitas Creek project was ignited on August 17 and 18. A few areas will be ignited later after the effects of precipitation on August 19 and 20 wear off.
