Cable Mounted Boom:

Photos
Cable-mounted booms are the least expensive and most readily deployed of the three boom types. They can be repositioned horizontally if the deeper section of the stream channel migrates. The pumping sampler intake should not be attached to the boom because it is difficult to eliminate dips in the intake line when it is suspended from the cable. It is best to mount the sampler intake near the turbidity sensor and above the bedload transport zone. As with all three boom types, the size and strength of construction materials and anchoring devices must be scaled for the application.
