Bank Mounted Boom:

The bank-mounted boom can be deployed at the edge of the stream when there is a stable bank and adequate water depth. The boom extends out from the bank, usually at a right angle to the flow, and over the stream suspending the turbidity sensor and sampler intake about mid-depth in the water column. Although the boom is not depth-proportional, it does change depth depending the stream velocity and the mass of the counterweight. When weighted properly, the boom will shed large organic debris when the force of the debris lifts the arm to the surface and allows the debris to pass underneath. Small amounts of debris may remain lodged on the leading edge of the arm and require periodic manual cleaning, depending on stream conditions.
