Locations and Laboratories

Silviculture Laboratory

The Redding Silviculture Laboratory is a research installation of the U.S. Forest Service Pacific Southwest Research Station. This laboratory, co-located with the Shasta-Trinity National Forest Supervisors Office, is in the heart of northern California's forest industry. The research unit here is carrying on a heritage of silviculture research begun by scientists at the Station's headquarters dating back to the 1930's. PSW has had a research laboratory in Redding since 1964.

The Redding Laboratory is located just north of the Redding Municipal Airport, at the intersection of Airport Road and Avtech Parkway. To reach the lab, go south on Airport Road from Highway 44 to Avtech Parkway.

The Silviculture Laboratory in Redding, California, is a field research facility of the Pacific Southwest Research Station, headquartered in Albany, California. The laboratory and research station are part of the Forest Service, U.S. Department of Agriculture.

The city of Redding is located in northern California, 160 miles north of Sacramento, 100 miles south of the Oregon border, on Interstate 5. The city of Arcata is 130 miles west on highway 299, Alturas is 140 miles northeast on highway 299. Redding can be reached by air on Horizon Air from the north (Portland and Seattle) and United Express from the south (San Francisco).
