Description: A sample of California Division of Forestry employees whose jobs include some contact with the public were queried about job satisfaction and employee motivations, and their responses were related to the Division's fire prevention program. Most respondents felt that Division management considered the program less important than fire suppression and detection. They favored enlarging the program and giving it a higher priority. Their ratings of the effectiveness of fire prevention efforts varied with the techniques used.
