Impacts of Urbanization in the Sierra Nevada Ecosystem
Summary
Historic impacts of urbanization on the Lake Tahoe Basin and other regions within the Sierra Nevada were analyzed and summarized in the Sierra Nevada Ecosystem Project (SNEP) report. This study enhanced our understanding of how human-related ecosystem disturbance influences forest structure and function. The SNEP assessments provide a scientific basis for future policy and management decisions related to population growth and natural resource management.
