The MTNCLIM 2010 Conference, as well as the pre-conference work group sessions and post-conference workshop, will be held at the HJ Andrews Experimental Forest near Blue River, Oregon. The HJ Andrews is a National Science Foundation Long Term Ecological Research site located in mid-montane old-growth forests of Lookout Creek, a tributary to the McKenzie River in the west-central Cascades Mtns. Key longterm watershed-, climatic-, and forest research projects have been ongoing at HJ Andrews Forest for over 50 years. The Forest Headquaters (elev 425m) will serve as our MtnClim 2010 conference venue; Dr. Barbara Bond, of Oregon State University, is our host colleague.

HJ Andrews has made available on-site dormitory space at low cost. The HJA apartments are all double-occupancy rooms arranged in apartments of 4 rooms. Each apartment has a bathroom, central area, and small kitchen. About half of the beds are bunkbeds. A bed in one of the HJ Andrews apartments will be $30/night (includes linens). There are 58 beds available; to reserve, email Diane Delany (ddelany@fs.fed.us).

Most of the off-site lodging in the vicinity of HJ Andrews is cabins and resort-type. There are very few standard motel/hotel accommodations. If you require a standard motel room, do not delay making reservations! Some venues listed here are holding rooms for MtnClim participants until April 16th -- be sure to ask when you reserve.

HJ Andrews is located in the central Cascade Range of Oregon about 50 miles (80km) east of Eugene and 1.25 hours from the Eugene airport. Flights are often cheaper and more numerous from the Portland airport which is 2 hours north of Eugene.Rental cars are available at both airports. Driving directions to HJ Andrews from Eugene and Portland are attached here. Do not use the directions obtained through Google, Mapquest or similar sites. Several of these will direct you by forest roads to the middle of the Willamette Forest to a location far from HJA.
