Interests
Research on the
utilization of small diameter timber and the economic efficiency of
harvesting systems to remove small diameter timber in the Southwest U.S. Research also includes product grade and
quantity recovery of small diameter timber and the identification and
development of consumer markets for such products with particular emphasis on
community development opportunities. Research on the development of
collaborative planning efforts to effect community and forest restoration
with an emphasis on measuring progress and in developing a peer-to-peer
training program to increase capacity for community and agency involvement in
collaborative planning. Education
PhD in Natural Resources (University of Idaho), a
M.S. in Recreation and Tourism Resources (Michigan State University), and a
B.S. in Natural Resource Recreation and Tourism (Kansas State
University). Prior to joining the PNW Research Station he
worked in social impact assessment, forest certification, and impact
assessment of timber mills in the Pacific and Inland Northwest. |
