The Starkey project studies were designed with four primary objectives in mind.   These objectives and the questions posed to answer them are shown below:

The Objective		The Question
	Breeding Bull Efficiency		Does the breeding efficiency of male elk vary as a function of age?
	Effects of Roads and Traffic		Do varying levels of vehicular traffic impact the movement, distribution, and habitat use of elk, deer, and cattle?
	Equivalency of Animal Units		Are there spatial and temporal variations in the use of available habitat by elk, deer and cattle?
	Intensive Forest Management		Does intensive forest management and the resulting changes in vegetation and cover impact the movement, distribution, and habitat use of elk, deer, and cattle?
