How to navigate the virtual tours

The virtual visit to Fresca has 5 optional tours, each of them with different themes. By clicking on any of the 5 tour icons (coins), that virtual trail and its corresponding stations will change on the map. You can click on the stations shown on the map in any order or start at the first station and click <NEXT> to make the rounds.

  Management Tour -
Learn more about the Variable-Density Thinning (VDT) and wildlife enhancement treatments applied at Fresca.

  Tree Tour -
Discover how the trees in Fresca are responding after 10 years of VDT. Topics include tree growth, wind throw, development of epicormic branches, regeneration, and modeling tree growth

  Understory Tour -
A forest is more than just trees. and there is a lot going on under the canopy. View the understory and see how some species responded to VDT.

  Natural History Tour -
Get familiar with the ecology of several of the common and interesting plant and wildlife species at Fresca and how they might respond to our management practices .

Get ready to be shaken by the informal side of science.

Hiding behind any green, maroon or navy blue colored words is additional information related to that particular word (or phrase). To see this additional information, hover your mouse over the word and it will appear! If you don't want the “hover” effect, clicking on it will expand and collapse the information.

The colors are coded to give the following information:

• green:
  will provide the English equivalent of the metric unit.
  
• maroon:
  will provide definitions or additional details.
  
• navy blue (and the word "graph"): will provide a graph related to the content.
