The Natural Fuels Photo Series provides an efficient tool to estimate fuel and stand characteristics for a variety of ecosystems throughout the United States.   

Fuels inventories that directly measure site variables (including fuel loading and arrangement, vegetation structure and composition, etc.) can be conducted when a high degree of accuracy is required for a particular application. However, they are time consuming and expensive.  

The photo series can be used to make quick, easy, and inexpensive estimates of fuel quantities, vegetation structure, and stand conditions when less precise estimates are acceptable.
