Fire and Fuels Application (FFA)

FERA received money under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act to improve fuels characterization, fuels management, and fuels consumption software, and integrate all parts to improve easy of use. Investments have been made to improve the architecture of the Fuel Characteristic Classification System (FCCS), and advance integration of it with the Digital Photo Series, Consume 3.0, and the Fire Emission Production System.

Specifically, this project will restructure the FCCS into distinct, maintainable modules that will facilitate data transfer within the FFA and other systems such as BlueSky, Vegetation Dynamics Development Tool (VDDT), the First Order Fire Effects Model (FOFEM); and develop an integrated software application to run the four FERA applications from a single user interface.

Work on both projects is being done by university and private partners.

Anticipated Completion Date: September 30, 2012

Project Lead: David L. Peterson

Technical Contact: Susan Prichard
