Central
Oregon Fire Planning FCCS Pilot
The Fire Program Analysis Project
(FPA) system encompasses fire planning units, across the country
including the Central Oregon Fire Planning Unit (FPU). FERA is using
the Fuel Characteristic Classification System to generate over 200
fuelbeds, crosswalk those fuelbeds to fire behavior fuel models,
map the unit for fuelbed characteristics and fire potential, and
evaluate mitigation measures to reduce the fire hazard.
A final report will document how the FCCS and fire hazard potentials
for the Central Oregon FPU were derived, and alternatives for modifying
fire hazard.
