The forecast consensus map (see below) shows regions of the conterminous United States where our model predicts fire events during the 2003 fire season under one or more of the fire weather scenarios, and the relative size of the predicted fires. The warmer colors indicate regions where our model predicts the highest probability of fire. In general, the forecast for the 2003 fire season calls for less fire than in either 2001 or 2002.
