| Spring Lake Fire Interpretive Trail |
This short trail is unique, as it passes through an area which
was burned in 1986 by the 1200-acre Spring Lake Fire. Informational
signs interpret the effects of fire on the landscape. Look for
the visible signs of charred trees and other indications of fire.
Blueberries are abundant in parts of the burned area. Wildlife,
like red-tailed hawks, that live in large, relatively open areas,
also find a home here.
Directions: From Three Lakes, take State Highway 32 east
4 miles to Military Road (FR 2178). Turn left and go 2-1/2 miles
north to Spring Lake Fire sign. Turn right (east) to parking area,
which has space for 5-6 vehicles.
Trail Length: 1/4 mile loop.
Difficulty: Gently rolling terrain.
