Several
types of projects are carried out on the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest
to improve habitat for fish.
Installing fish cribs: Cribs of log poles are constructed which are later sunk in strategic spots in a lake to provide structure on the lake bed for various species of fish. These cribs provide hiding places for both predator and prey fish. Often they are excellent places to angle for fish. See our photos page to see fish cribs in action. |
