HEALTH ALERT - BLUE-GREEN ALGAE AT BEAR LAKE CAMPGROUND (FOREST COUNTY)
Chequamegon-Nicolet NF Bear Lake Campground is experiencing a problem withh blue-green algae. It can be toxic and cause illness at some point. Campers are advised to exercise extreme caution near the water. Swimming is not advised, especially by small children, but those who swim in the lake should dry off completely after getting out of the water. Signs and an 8 page Question and Answer Document are available at the campground. There should be no impact to well water at the campground as the water source is ground water, not lake water.
