Forest Visitor Map - $9.00 or $10.00 each (NO Shipping/Handling fee.) Published in 2001, this map is of the entire Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forests. The maps are at a scale of 1/2 inch = 1 mile, showing the road system, lakes, streams, campgrounds, picnic areas, trails, points of interest, and other information to help you plan your visit. These folded maps have the Chequamegon side of the Forests on one side and the Nicolet side of the Forests on the other side. This folded map is available on paper ($9.00 per copy) or on a synthetic/plastic medium ($10.00 per copy). There is no additional charge for shipping or handling of this map. (Visit our online map, which is based on the forest visitor map)

NOTE: Forest Visitor Maps may also be purchased on-line at the USGS Store. Visit them HERE

Wilderness Maps - $3.00 each (NO Shipping/Handling fee.) (Published 1994). The Chequamegon side map includes the two designated Wilderness areas (Porcupine Lake and Rainbow Lake). The Nicolet side map includes the three designated Wilderness areas (Black Jack Springs, Whisker Lake, and Headwaters). The maps are at a scale of 1 inch equals 2,000 feet. Hiking trails and parking areas are shown. There is no additional charge for shipping or handling of this map.

Topographic Maps (7.5 minute series) - $8.00 each (plus a Shipping/Handling fee.) Published in 1991 or 1995, these maps are at a scale of about 2-1/2 inches equals 1 mile (1:24,000). Each sheet covers an area of about 50 square miles. These are not the typical United States Geological Survey (USGS) quadrangle maps. Although similar to USGS quad maps, Forest Service quadrangle maps do have some modifications in the color scheme (green depicts ownership on Forest Service quads rather than vegetation cover on USGS quads) and some of the features shown have been updated from the USGS version of the same quadrangle. The Forest Service maps are highly detailed, and serve as a base for all other Chequamegon-Nicolet maps. Topography is shown with a contour interval of 10 or 20 feet. Indexes are available by mail to help you in your selection - call or write for an index of topographic maps. There is an additional single charge of $3.50 for shipping/handling for any of these maps. To determine which quads you'd like to order for the CHEQUAMEGON side of the forest, see the Topographical Map Index. A similar document for the NICOLET side of the forest will be available at a later date. Contact either the Park Falls (715-762-2461) or Rhinelander Office (715-362-1300) for more specific information on topographic maps available.
