Crane-Bidwell Area
Motorized recreation area
between 6500' - 8300' feet elevation
The semi-primitive area offers several opportunities to hikers as well as mountain bike riders, motorcycle riders, Off-highway Vehicle operators, and snowmobilers, with spectacular views of the Warner Mountains, Hart Mountain, Warner Valley, Goose Lake Valley, and Mount Shasta. The Crane Mt. National Recreation Trail can be accessed at the end of Forest Road 4011-015.

- Check local Forest Service office for fire restrictions in summer
- Garbage..."Pack it in - pack it out"
How to get there:
From Lakeview District Office:
Go 2½ miles north on Highway 395, and turn right on Highway 140. Take
Highway 140 east for 8 miles, then turn right on Forest Road 3615. Go ½ mile and turn right on old highway 140. Continue west for 1.4 miles then turn left onto Forest Road 3915. Go on
Forest Road 3915 for 10 miles, then turn right on Forest Road 4011. Go on
4011 for 3 miles. The road then turns very rough (4-wheel drive required)
and into Forest Road 015. Follow the signs to the Crane Trail. The trail
is in the Semi-Primitive Area. There are no boundary signs.
