The Hayman Recovery Assistance Center has compiled the following directory of assistance that might be of interest and of value to you. Refer to the blue section of your phonebook for additional sources of assistance. Loss of Personal Property
US Small Business Administration (SBA) representatives are located at the Disaster Recovery Center in Woodland Park at the High School. SBA Home Disaster Loans may be available to homeowners or renters to repair or replace disaster damages to real estate or personal property owned by the victim. Renters are eligible for their personal property losses. Please report any persons attempting to take advantage of fire victims by calling the Colorado Consumer Hotline at (800) 222-4444. The hotline is a joint effort between the Better Business Bureau and the Colorado Attorney General’s Office. Tax AssistanceThe Internal Revenue Service (IRS) allows federal income tax deductions for underinsured casualty losses on homes, personal property, agricultural losses and household goods. Those eligible may file amended returns for the previous year to receive early tax refunds. Call the IRS at 1-800 829-1040 for assistance. Taxpayer Advocates 1-877-777-4778(toll free outside Denver-metro area) or 303-446-1012 (Denver-metro area) Department of Revenue: Call 303-238-7378 for questions regarding possible extensions or the effects of casualty losses on your Colorado income taxes. Check with your local assessor regarding your property assessment tax if the fire damaged your property.
Agricultural AssistanceThe SBA Economic Injury Disaster Loans are working capital to small businesses and small agricultural cooperatives to assist them through the disaster recovery period. This assistance is available only to applicants with no Credit Available Elsewhere – if the business and its owners cannot provide for their own recovery from non-governmental sources. A walk-in office has been set up in the Woodland Park High School. Agricultural producers facing losses should contact the Farm Service Agency, USDA, at the appropriate office from the following list. FSA will need a signed clearance form to assess your property. Insurance InformationThe Rocky Mountain Insurance Information Association provides information on how to file an insurance claim, avoiding disaster fraud, settling insurance claims after a disaster, and tips on safeguarding the things you own. They may be reached at 303-790-0216, 1-800-355-9524, or at http://www.rmiia.org/ Contractor License VerificationCall Colorado’s Department of Regulatory Agencies at 303-894-2300 to verify that the Electrical or Plumbing contractors you are dealing with are appropriately licensed. For all other contractors, please contact your local city or county licensing department. Safety, Health and Sanitation IssuesContact your local Sanitarian for questions regarding possible spoiled food, or septic systems. The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment – Laboratory and Radiation Services (303-692-3090) provides water quality analytical services for a fee. More information can be found at http://www.cdphe.state.co.us/lr. Due to the chance of injury caused by punctures and cuts, individuals are reminded to have up to date tetanus vaccinations and wear protective gloves. Contact your doctor or local health representative for more information. Contact your propane or fuel oil delivery company if your tanks have been exposed to high temperatures or appear to be damaged. For air quality related concerns, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment operates two hotlines (updated daily). For forecasts call 303-758-4848. When unavailable, call the Public Information Office at 303-692-3281. For Denver specific bulletins offered by the Air Pollution Control Division call 303-782-0211. Wildlife and Animal IssuesCall the Colorado Division of Wildlife at 303-291-7227 with any questions regarding wildlife. There is a Hayman Fire Animal Relief Fund set up for people who were under mandatory evacuation and suffered a loss related to animals. The fund may help cover costs related to the replacement of a permanently lost animal, loss of a structure utilized to house animals, loss of feed, and veterinary bills related to injuries to animals due to the fire. If you have lost or found an animal please contact the following Sheriff Departments Animal Control Officer. Contact your own county and also neighboring counties as the animals may have crossed county boundaries. Reuniting animals with their owners will be comfort to both.

Red Cross has established a service center at Woodland Park High
School. At the service centers Red Cross trained disaster relief
workers consisting of disaster nurses, mental health workers, and
interviewers visit with anyone affected by the wildfires.
Interviewers may assist by providing disaster victims with the means
to pay for what they need most – groceries, new clothing, rent,
household items and medicines. Red Cross nurses assess sanitary
conditions, assist with disaster related minor injuries and
illnesses, and may help victims replace eyeglasses, dentures,
hearing aids, and/or prescriptions lost in the disaster. Red Cross
mental health workers who are licensed mental health professionals
provide emotional support. This assistance, as with all Red Cross
services, is confidential and given on a uniform basis, depending on
