Camping

There are currently no overnight camping facilities at Midewin.  

Nearby public campgrounds are located at Kankakee River State Park and at Des Plaines State Conservation Area.  See the park websites for updated information.

About 20 minutes from Midewin's Welcome Center.

Chippewa Campground

96 campsites on Illinois Route 102, west end of park.

* 53 Class B and E electrical hookups at $20 a night

* 43 Class C tent sites at $8 a night

Potowatomi Campground

110 campsites on Illinois Route 102, east end of park.

* 110 Class A sites at $25 a night

* Two rental cabins at $50 a night

Davis Creek Campground

12 sites, organized groups only

Equestrian Campground

Illinois Route 113, southeast of Warner Bridge

* Class C only $8 a night with water for horses

Des Plaines Fish & Wildlife Area

About 10 minutes from Midewin's Welcome Center.

Class C (vehicular access, no showers) areas with graveled pads, water and pit toilets. The campground is open from mid-April (weather permitting) to mid-October, closed the rest of the year.
