Land and Resource Management Planning
The Forest and Rangeland Renewable Resources Planning Act of 1974 as amended by the National Forest Management Act of 1976 specifies that all units of the National Forest System need to have a land and resource management plan (Forest Plan). The current Forest Plan for the IPNF was approved in 1987.
Our Land and Resource Management page provides information on our
Quarterly Schedule of Proposed Actions (NEPA)
This document provides early notice of Forest Service activities and proposals. The schedule is updated and sent
out four times a year. We invite your active participation in project planning for the
Idaho Panhandle National Forests. Contributing your comments, suggestions and site specific
information about these project areas early in the planning process can help our forest make better decisions.

IPNF Environmental Appeal Responses
An Environmental Appeal is a formal request to an agency higher authority for review of an environmental planning (NEPA) decision. The public's rights to file an appeal are defined in specific appeal regulations. Usually, all administrative processes must be exhausted before a person can bring a court action (litigation) against with a NEPA decision. This usually includes the filing of a formal appeal. The following links provide access to recent and historical appeal decisions related to the Idaho Panhandle National Forests:
IPNF Pre-Decisional Objection Responses
Objections are written documents submitted by an individual or organization seeking a pre-decisional administrative review of a proposed hazardous fuel reduction project authorized by the Healthy Forests Restoration Act of 2003 (HFRA). The public may file objections after an environmental assessment or final environmental impact statement is completed and before a decision document is signed for a project under HFRA.
