Shoshone County Fire Mitigation Plan - 2002
Shoshone County initiated a contract to develop a wildland–urban interface fire mitigation plan to aid in the protection of the communities within the County.
St. Maries River Basin Fuels Reduction Project
The St. Joe Ranger District of the Idaho Panhandle National Forests is considering a proposal to reduce fuel accumulations in close proximity to residences and developed areas in the St. Maries River Drainage. The project areas were identified through a collaborative effort with Shoshone and Benewah Counties.

Kootenai County Wildland Urban Interface Fire Mitigation Plan
The Kootenai County Local Emergency Planning Committee received a grant to prepare a wildland urban interface fire mitigation plan to identify actions and priorities for reducing wildland fire risk. This plan includes a variety of measures designed to reduce the impact of wildland fires in Kootenai County.

The Geospatial Multi-Agency Coordination Group or GeoMAC, is an internet-based mapping tool for accessing online maps of current fire locations and perimeters in the conterminous 48 States and Alaska.
