(please include target audience, costs to participants, and program plans):
The Children's Forest is a 3400 acre plot within the San Bernardino National Forest, near Running Springs, CA. The Forest is a place dedicated to youth empowerment. Here, young people take an active role in the planning, development, and funding for the site. This helps them to develop a greater appreciation for public land and its benefits. The Forest is funded by a special partnership between the Children's Forest Association and the Forest Service, combining the power of a governmental agency with the potential of a private organization. A small information center with youth designed exhibits is among plans for the future.
