USDA Forest Service Statement on Death of Law Enforcement Officer

Forest Service Chief Tom Tidwell, "it is with great sorrow that I must share some tragic news concerning one of the agency's Law Enforcement Officers. 37 year old Chris Upton was shot and killed during a routine patrol of a recreation site on the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest in Jasper County, Georgia. Officer Upton, had served with the USDA Forest Service for 4 years. He is survived by his wife Jessica and their four year old daughter Annabel."

"Our thoughts and prayers go out to Officer Upton's family, loved ones, friends and fellow Forest Service Employees affected by this tragedy."
