Projects are proposed actions that are analyzed through the NEPA process (EIS, EA, or CE) that involves analyzing different alternatives to the proposed action, requires public notice and comment, and results in a NEPA decision (ROD, DN, or DM) which, subject to an administrative appeals process, and is implemented on the ground. The Forest Projects below are projects that we are analyzing or have analyzed under the NEPA process. Projects that are "Developing Proposal" or "Under Analysis" may have an opportunity for public collaboration and input on the proposed actions and the analysis being conducted.
Buffalo Valley Fuels Management
Combination of mechanical fuel reduction and prescribed fire around 3 major development clusters in the Buffalo Valley
Continental Divide National ScenicTrail -- 1.5 Mile Relocation
Relocation of 1.5 miles of trail south and west of Lake of the Woods to remove trail from motorized Forest Road 698 and 534; the roads will remain open to motorized use. Comment by 7/5/12.

Cottonwood Dam Geotechnical Investigation
Geotechnical investiagation of an existing dam involving core drilling to determine the structural integrity of the dam.
Fall Creeks Ranch, LLC - year-round wheeled motorized travel, road maintenance, and plowing
Proposal to authorize Fall Creeks Ranch, LLC to use wheeled motorized vehicles year-round on 2.5 miles of National Forest System land to reach their private property, road maintenance and plowing.
Gaffney Irrigation Ditch Repair

Geothermal Leasing Programmatic Environmental Impact Statement
The Forest Service was a cooperating agency, assisting the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) in that Agency's geothermal leasing analysis and decision. The BLM issued a record of decision on 12/17/2008.
Grouse Mountain Area Vegetation Management
Thinning competing trees and/or prescribed fire to investigate enhancement of whitebark pine survival and regeneration on 400 acres within the upper Spread Creek drainage
Hoback Junction Fuels Reduction
Fuel reduction and aspen enhancement by way of mechanical thinning and prescribed burning in the Hoback Junction area.
Jackson Area Trail Reconstruction Projects
Reconstruction work on 19 trails in the following areas: Snake River Range, Gros Ventre Wilderness, Greater Snow King Area, Teton Pass, Munger Mountain, Slate Creek, and Shadow Mountain.
Oil and Gas Leasing Decision -- 44,720 Acres in the Wyoming Range -- Supplemental Analysis
In 2005, the FS authorized the BLM to offer subject lands for lease. BLM's subsequent leasing was remanded back to the BLM by the Interior Board of Land Appeals (IBLA) to provide opportunity to address deficiencies in the environmental analyses upon which these decisions were based.
A Draft Supplemental EIS was released by the FS in February 2010. The Final SEIS and FS decision were released in January of 2011. The January 2011 decision has been withdrawn for further consideration.
Pfaff Livestock Special Use Permit
Conversion of a term grazing permit to a special use permit for pasturing 2 horses for one month each year on 3.5 acres.
Pole Creek Prescribed Fire
Prescribed fire on 3,500 acres for aspen stand restoration. This project was combined in the database with the East Fork Salvage project in 12/2007; the projects have since been separated.
Proposal to authorize wheeled motorized travel from May 1 to November 30 to reach private property
Lyle and Sharon Waggoner are requesting use of wheeled motorized vehicles on a closed Forest Service road that is not open to motorized travel to reach their private property. FS land must be crossed to reach their private property.
Silver Star Telephone Company Wyoming Loop Broadband Completion Project
Burial of approximately 35 miles of two 1.25inch conduits containing fiber optic broadband cable via plowing technique. Route will primarily be within existing road right-of-ways and utility right-of-ways.
Supervisors Office/Jackson District Administrative Site Conveyance
Convey up to 11 acres of administrative land in Jackson, Wyoming and construct/remodel administrative buildings on the remainder of the site and other FS sites in the area. EA released October 2009. Supplement to EA released January 2012. Decision made May 4, 2012. Legal notice of decision published 5/8/2012; thus appeal filing period ends 6/22/2012.
Upgrade of Pow Wow Communications Site for WyoLINK
WYDOT upgrade and use of Pow Wow Communicatons Site in order to install a WyoLINK radio communication system to connect with other WyoLINK sites throughout the State of Wyoming.
Upper Gros Ventre Allotment Range Improvements -- Corrals only
Improving livestock corrals & loading facility near Slate Creek. Previously proposed fences will be considered under Allotment Management Plan NEPA.
Whitebark Pine Beetle Treatment
Treat the trunks of approximately 250 whitebark pine trees in various locations across the forest with the insecticide carbaryl to protect them from mountain pine beetles.
