Oil and Gas Leasing Decision -- 44,720 Acres in the Wyoming Range -- Supplemental Analysis
In 2005, the FS authorized the BLM to offer subject lands for lease. BLM's subsequent leasing was remanded back to the BLM by the Interior Board of Land Appeals (IBLA) to provide opportunity to address deficiencies in the environmental analyses upon which these decisions were based.
A Draft Supplemental EIS was released by the FS in February 2010. The Final SEIS and FS decision were released in January of 2011. The January 2011 decision has been withdrawn for further consideration.
Record of Decision (PDF 638kb) Documents the Forest Service decision not to authorize the BLM to offer 35 lease parcels in the Wyoming Range totaling 44,720 acres at this time. The decision selects Alternative1 from the Supplemental EIS. This decision supersedes prior FS 2005 decisions to authorize BLM to offer leases for these acres.
