Education:

- M.S. and PhD. in Wood Science
and Forest Products, Virginia Tech, 1988 and 1992, respectively.
Career Summary:
Dr. Wiedenbeck began her career
with the Forest Service in 1992 as a member of the Southern
Research Station. She moved to Princeton in 1994 as Project
Leader of NE-4701. She left the Forest Service for 3 years
to take a faculty position in the Department of Forestry at
the University of Kentucky. In 1999, Jan returned to Princeton
as a Research Forest Products Technologist and then reassumed
the position of Project Leader in 2004. Her areas of expertise
include: primary and secondary wood processing, manufacturing
system efficiency, log and lumber grades, hardwood quality,
and yield improvement. Before attending graduate school, Jan
was a forester and sawmill supervisor in the southern yellow
pine industry in Louisiana and Mississippi. Dr. Wiedenbeck
holds adjunct appointments at Penn State University and North
Carolina State University and is a former President of the
Forest Products Society.
