Career Summary:
I have spent most of my career as a biologist researching wildlife-habitat
relationships and basic wildlife natural history in either Appalachian
forested systems (80%) or Southern bottomland hardwood and pine
plantation systems (20%) in the Southeast and mid-Atlantic. My work
has focused on both game species such as white-tailed deer and nongame
species such as the Allegheny woodrat, the endangered Virginia northern
flying squirrel and several bat species. From 1993-2003, I devoted
a great deal of effort on a series of multi-collaborator shrew ecology
studies throughout the central and southern Appalachians.
