Research Focus

Carbon storage and flux between terrestrial ecosystems and the atmosphere for all forested ecosystems of the United States under an array of changing atmospheric and socioeconomic conditions. I am Project Leader of Research Work Unit NE-4104, responsible for general project research direction and supervision of project personnel.

  • Updating the national-level forest carbon budget model FORCARB
  • Working as the Criteria 5 lead for the USFS effort in estimating Montreal Process Criteria & Indicators of sustainability
  • Estimating carbon in coarse woody debris in forests of the northeastern U.S.A.
  • Contributing to the development of an interactive web-based geographic system to produce carbon estimates from annualized USDA Forest Service, Forest Inventory & Analysis data.
