I joined the Forest Service in 1988 as a Research Forester
in Morgantown, WV, working on impacts of gypsy moth. In October 1994, I received
a reassignment to Burlington, VT, where I am Project Leader of NE-4454,
Integrating the Ecological and Social Dimensions of Forest Ecosystem Management.
My primary personal research focus is
NED,
a set of decision-support tools for forest management for multiple benefits.
Other research interests include biotic disturbances in forests, regeneration
dynamics, stand development, and the roles of humans in the ecosystem.
I have a B.A. in Theater Arts from Oberlin
College, an M.S. in Forest
Ecology from the University of Massachusetts,
and a Ph.D in Silviculture from Yale
University. My
resume can be viewed at this
link.
I am a generalist, whose previous professional experience includes being
the Technical Director for the Chelsea Theater Center, an Off-Broadway
producing company, Cheese Buyer for a regional food co-op organization,
and partner in a custom woodworking company.
