Bicycle by a stream
Half-way point on the Hiawatha trail, a trail that travels the trestles and tunnels of a historic railroad.
Hello biking enthusiast!

The Idaho Panhandle National Forest has many trails suited for just about any type of biking, for any skill and endurance level. In the future, we will have a guide that provides a cross section of some of the great trails in the area. For now, check with a local office for more information, or go to our ask a question page.

Included in this guide are some safety tips for an enjoyable ride, riding tips and an equipment check list.

Note that weather changes, unexpected slides, and down trees can cause a change to the skill and endurance level of a trail without notice and riders should be aware of that before attempting a ride.

Before using any of our trails, inspection of your bike should be done as well as being prepared physically for the chosen ride.

To make a pleasant day of riding be sure to bring along plenty of liquids, carbohydrate snacks, sufficient clothing, helmet, gloves and a tool kit for quick repairs.

Our hopes are that you will enjoy our trails and give them the same respect as any trail system.

Try the Idaho Bicycle Transportation home page for more information on biking in Idaho.

We hope that all of your rides are fun, safe and enjoyable. Have a great time in America's Great Outdoors!
