Accomplishments
The Forest Service is
committed to providing its customers, employees and business
partners with uninterrupted services on January 1, 2000 and
beyond. The agency has invested the considerable time and
effort necessary to ensure continuity of essential services,
despite possible Y2K disruptions.
We have….

Completed
Y2K testing and preparations of all software and computer
systems serving key cooperators, business partners, and
employees.

Completed
survey, Y2K assessment, and all necessary repair or
replacement of all critical vulnerable systems including
vehicles, real property, GPS equipment and field data
recording devices. Over 18,000 vehicles, 40,000
buildings and 2,400 GPS and field data record devices were
assured to be Y2K compliant through this process.

Completed
Y2K telecommunications repair and replacement of over 10,000
items of equipment including PBXs, key systems, routers, hubs
and modems.

Completed
Y2K compliance modifications for all FS electronic forms
(total of 266 forms).

Developed
Business Continuity (Contingency)
Plans (BCCP) and Day One Strategies to ensure business
continuity should Y2K-related problems occur.

Validated
Y2K compliance of all external data exchanges with key
cooperators in the wildland firefighting, financial
management, and map producing business areas.

Coordinated
with key business partners and cooperators to confirm their
ability to provide a continuous supply of critical materials
and services.
