Tips for Posting Information to the Forum
So how do I get my stuff into the Forum?
Start by familiarizing with how to navigate around HyperNews. Read the tips
below and try them
out on a test page.
- For now, Dec-Jan, Cut and Paste. Easiest is to create document in a
basic text editor
(CDE Text Editor on IBM, Notepad on PC) If a word processor such as
WordPerfect or Applix is used, write in paragraphs, no special fonts,
no tabs, bullets, or centering. Leave a blank line between paragraphs.
Navigate
to the appropriate Action Team thread, click on "Add", and cut and
paste the text into the box labeled "Enter your response here." Select
"Smart Text". Finish the response, "Preview Response", then either
"Post Your Response" or go Back to revise it.
- HTML is an option. If you write a document with tables, fonts,
or other non-ASCII complexities
in it, then you may need to export it to HTML to make it
presentable. Once you have an HTML document, open it in a Text Editor
(e.g., Notepad), and cut and paste that to the Forum. Select HTML as the
format and proceed as above.
- Later, Feb-Mar, Link to Intranet documents. Once the two
agency intranets are connected, it may be easiest of all to to file a document (in
HTML, ASCII text, or PDF) in the local web space, and create a link to it
from within a HyperNews response. More on that later...
