(Sec. 06.1, ex. 01, ch. 2, I). All research scientists (and only research scientists) appointed under the demonstration project must be placed in a three-year probationary period. Conversion from probationary status to career status occurs after three years of service in the same manner as with all other employees who are appointed with a one-year probationary period (FSH 6109.41 - FPM 315, subch. 8-2). If a research scientist moves to a comparison unit or another agency, the extended probationary period is no longer in effect. Only one year of probation is required, the requirement for which may be met by service under the demonstration project authority. 22 - DECISION TO CONVERT EMPLOYEE TO NONPROBATIONARY STATUS. (Sec. 06.1, ex. 01, ch. 2, II). The final managerial decision to convert a scientist from probationary status is based on the same factors that are considered prior to converting all other probationary employees (FSH 6109.41 - FPM 315, subch. 8-4).
