For clarification in application and standardization with neighboring Regions, Region 4 scalers will make deductions for heart checks and pitch seams as follows: a. Check with 0 degrees to 44 degrees twist will be treated as straight checks without consideration for the twist. b. If a twist is 45 degrees to 89 degrees, use 1.5 times the deduction for a straight check. c. If the twist is 90 degrees, double the deduction for a straight check. 72a
