FISHLAKE NATIONAL FOREST SUPPLEMENT 1600-99-1
EFFECTIVE 7/1/99
CHAPTER 1650 - PRESS, RADIO, AND TELEVISION
1651.11 - Feature News Releases.
Fishlake National Forest News Release Schedule. Stories having emergency news value, such as forest fires, floods, etc., will be released to daily papers promptly after the information reaches the Ranger or Supervisor's Office.
Stories having ordinary news value such as personnel transfers, meetings, development projects, etc., will be mailed on Friday for release on Wednesday each week to prevent daily papers from scooping local weeklies.
Articles requested or initiated by individual reporters will have first run in the reporter's paper. If two or more reporters call for the same story, it will be released to them in the order in which they call.
Feature story-type articles will be mailed on Friday to all locals and dailies for release on Wednesday except where they are initiated by an individual reporter. Daily papers based in Salt Lake City can more effectively be contacted through local reporters or the Public Affairs Office on the Wasatch-Cache National Forest in Salt Lake City.
New coverage on extra period project fires and other disasters will be handled by assignment of a Public Information Officer.
