The Third Annual Festival of Wood offers music, handmade crafts, kid's activities and More!

 

Schedule of Events

 

A surprise event to celebrate Gifford Pinchot's 142nd birthday will be held on Saturday, August 11.

 

Some of the highlights of the Festival include:

Mansion Open House(fee): $3.00 per person.

Explore all three floors of Grey Towers, ancestral home of Gifford Pinchot, founder and first chief of the US Forest Service.

History of the Festival of Wood:

 

The U.S. Forest Service at Grey Towers hopes to:

  • provide an understanding of the many uses of wood, including its cultural significance;
  • illustrate the important role that wood played in the shaping of our society, especially this region;
  • educate the public about scientific forestry and the management of our forest resources;
  • provide an economic activity for the community and showcase local artists’ works and provide a venue for wood crafter's;
  • promote Grey Towers, the Pinchot Institute and other partners.
