The Third Annual Festival of Wood offers music, handmade crafts, kid's activities and More!
A surprise event to celebrate Gifford Pinchot's 142nd birthday will be held on Saturday, August 11.
Some of the highlights of the Festival include:
Mansion Open House(fee): $3.00 per person. Explore all three floors of Grey Towers, ancestral home of Gifford Pinchot, founder and first chief of the US Forest Service.
Wood Games and Activities for Children: Reading Tree Rings, Making Tree Cookies, lots of Crafts, and games. Become a Junior Forest Ranger, and more.
Penn's Wood Mobile Learn about Penn's Woods as you walk through this self-contained forestry exhibit.
Build A Bluebird nestbox (Fee) Sponsored by the Gifford Pinchot Audubon Society Help re-establish the bluebird population in your own backyard.
Handmade Wood Crafts, Sales, Demonstrations: Beautiful and unique wood crafts, including furniture, mirrors, home decor, wood-turned bowls and more. Sponsored by the Pocono Arts Council 570-476-4460 or mcac@epix.net

Music: (All performances are free of charge.) Listen to Fiddling, Flutes and Folk with free music: Bill Frye, strolling guitarist; Recorders Consort, Little Bear, Native American music; and Lost Ramblers.
Saturday August 11th at 4:30pm Doc Marshall's, Cajun Zydeco music. Don't miss this lively musical performance.
Special Appearance: Forest Service icons Smokey Bear and Woodsy Owl.
Stilt Walkers: Wood nymphs walking tall, really tall, on their wooden stilts.
