Leaders as Conveners
Location:
Grey Towers National Historic Site
Milford, PA
This practical, hands-on workshop is designed for Forest Service leaders and influencers at all agency levels who want to learn collaborative leadership tools designed to engage and activate diverse stakeholders—both internal and external. Despite the complex challenges in workplace environments characterized by diminishing budgets, competing interests, escalating tensions, and urgent timeframes, the ‘work’ still needs to get done. These tools will enable more fulfilling, concerted and sustainable performance under these conditions. Bringing their ‘live’ issues into the workshop, participants will:
- Experience and practice adaptable methodologies for building group cohesion
- Learn to leverage knowledge from the field and ease conflict and overwhelm
- Explore a new leadership mode well suited to addressing the challenges facing the Forest Service today
- Develop the strategic steppingstones for a more satisfying and enduring way of working together in the future—leading to wiser decision-making for delivering the greatest good
This program allows participants to experience engagement methodologies and understand the strategy of how they can be used in different settings with different audiences. The special setting of Grey Towers will enhance learning by incorporating the leadership ethos of Gifford Pinchot.
