The Forest Supervisor and Deputy Session is a unique opportunity to explore, reflect on, discuss and enhance the working relationship of the Forest Supervisor (FS)and Deputy Forest Supervisor(DFS). It provides a unique opportunity to discuss and evaluate what’s working and what’s not, and to hear how other pairs approach this important working relationship.
The goal of the session is to enhance the individual internal working relationships of individual Forest Supervisors and Deputy Forest Supervisors through:
- Discussing and comparing various FS/DFS approaches to forest leadership
- Discussing common dilemmas
- Applying concepts related to personality style and difference to the FS/DFS relationship evaluating current working agreements between the FS/DFS
- Openly validating and /or adjusting aspects of the current working relationship
Participation in the session will require a commitment on the part of each FS/DFS to complete some pre-session work and an interview with one of the trainers. The session will combine lecture and FS/DFS presentations of their current working models, with significant time for reflection, evaluation, and possible re-negotiation of the FS/DFS model being currently used.
The session will help facilitate FS/DFS teams towards a deeper understanding of their personal and partner’s style preferences related to communication, leadership, conflict management, decision making, team applications and stress management.
