MEETING INFORMATION

ABOUT THE NAFC SESSION

The XXIV Session of the North American Forest Commission will take place at the Condado Hotel and Resort in the Condado Area of San Juan, Puerto Rico from June 8-13, 2008. Participants and guests will be flying into the Luiz Munoz Marin International Airport, a 20-30 minute drive to the hotel. We encourage you to fly into San Juan on June 8, Sunday. There will be an opening reception Sunday evening.

Meetings will begin promptly at 9:00am on June 9, Monday in Laguna 1 Meeting Room on the Laguna Side of Condado Plaza. The meeting will end at noon on June 13, Friday.

As previously agreed upon, the entire session will have English and Spanish interpretation. The final report of the meeting will be translated in to English, French and Spanish.

DRESS CODE

Dress code for the NAFC meeting is business casual. We encourage participants to wear island-style or guayabera shirts. Casual nigttime attire (i.e. skirts and dresses for women, slacks and shirts for men) is recommended for evening NAFC events.

FIELD TRIP

The International Institute of Tropical Forestry and El Yunque National Forest will be organizing a field trip for all participants of the NAFC session. The field trip will be an opportunity to look at the challenges to forest management on the island. More information will be provided on the field trip.

RECEPTIONS

There will be three receptions during the week. The reception is open to all participants and guests. Please let us know via the meeting registration if you will be bringing a guest. The following is a TENTATIVE schedule of the receptions:

  • Sunday, June 8, 7pm: US-hosted Meet and Greet Cocktail Hour, Ocean Garden, Condado Plaza Hotel.
  • Tuesday, June 10, 7pm: FAO-hosted Opening Reception, Laguna side Pool, Condado Plaza Hotel
  • Thursday, June 12, 7pm: US-hosted Closing Reception, El Convento Hotel, Old San Juan
